Today, the young generation is literally obsessed with bikes. The young guys aged from 20 and above are always seen talking about bikes. They keep exploring newer bikes all the while. However, how many of us really care to keep our bikes clean? It is habit, if not, it should be. It will not cost you a dime. But a regular maintenance of the bike will give it a longer life.
Have a look at these tips and keep your bike in perfect condition….
Always use the best equipment for cleaning. A good brush and clean rags along with soaps and waxes should be given the first preference when it comes to cleaning. Use ample water wherever necessary, but do not waste it. When you have to use water, use sponge.
Never use any cheap solution. It can do more harm than good to your bike. Ensure that the cleaning solution is washed off the bike. Going for homemade solution is fine. However, a recommended cleaning agent or solution should be given the first priority, because they are tailor made for cleaning bikes. With the sponge, you can clean up rear view mirrors, the dashboard and the fuel tank.
Use the sponge with the water to clean mud guards and spoke and rims of the wheels. However, cleaning this way will not be possible near the engine area and under the mud guards. Give heavy dirt settled on fenders and bugs a presoak treatment and then rinse with jets of water.
When you are done with the sponge work, use soft and dry clothes to dry the vehicle. Don’t use dryer or air compressor to dry off the water if you wash your bike at a washing center. Doing this might grit the finish and cause heavy, irreparable and permanent damage. So, avoid such machines as much as possible.
Keep one more thing in mind. When you wash the bike, never expose it to direct sunlight. You will run the risk of streaking. Wash the tyres too. These will surely look like black diamonds. Finally, do not forget to oil important parts before you set off.
