Honda DioHonda introduced gearless bikes, better known as gearless scooters in India 10 years ago in 2001. Honda Activa and Honda Dio were the two scooters that hit the roads then. It went way too ahead of Bajaj Auto who also was one of the dominant auto players of the time.

To keep itself in the market and give fight to other companies which were settling down in the market, Honda Motorcycle and scooter India (HMSI) were forced to re-launch the same scooter. However, the company needed to upgrade the scooter before launching it. The revisions were made in its stunning looks and some technicalities.

Honda DioNew Honda Dio is powered by a 102cc air cooled, 4 stroke, single cylinder, OHC engine. It has a displacement of 102 cc. The sweet-looking scooter generates a maximum power of 7 bhp at 7,000 rpm and churns out a top torque of 7.8 Nm at 5500 rpm. It comes in both self start and kick start options. So, it is hassle-free to get it started.

As one its advanced features, it uses tuff-up tube to reduce the fear of puncture. However, it is only for the rear tyre.

Honda DioThe Honda Dio has only six liters of fuel tank and one liter of reserve. It sounds far too less in terms of the travelling regularly done these days. However, practically speaking the vehicle itself is designed for city riding. Therefore, six liters of petrol tank is quite acceptable. Even when the vehicle is designed for a city-specific use, still it can offer fuel economy of over 50 kmpl, which is very admirable.

Though the Honda Dio is a gearless scooter, there are V-Matic gears which help the bike get good acceleration. That is why the Honda Dio can touch the 60 kmph mark in less than 11 seconds. The sufficiently light weight of the scooter, with a curb weight of 110 kg also helps in getting a good pick up.

Honda DioUnlike its predecessor, this bike comes in five colors which are as vibrant as ever. Candy palm green, black, leblon violet metallic, vibrant blue metallic and sports red are the five colors in which the Honda Dio is available in.

The length of the Honda Dio is 1760 mm; the height is 1110 mm, while the width is 710 mm. Due to the scooter category the vehicle, it has a comparatively less clearance of 145 mm.
