Hyosung to launch 250cc bikes in 2012

The next year will see a new brand of motorcycles being launched by the Korean bike maker Hyosung. The new bike will be launched in the 250 cc category in the Indian market. It is being touted that the new bike from Hyosung will give a tough competition to the Honda CBR 250R. The bikes will be launched in the performance and cruiser bikes segment. And it is Hyosung GT250R to inaugurate the 250cc segment Hyosung machines out here.

The company already sells two of their models ST7 and GT 650R, in India. These two models will see completely knocked down (CKD) assembly facilities in India. The Honda CBR 250 is already garnering good support as the bookings have already been doing well. There are as many as 3000 units book already since the start of this year. Their partners are Garware Motors of Pune.

The hype for such performance bikes started when Bajaj launched the Kawasaki Ninja 250. There were good reports from the market and other companies also took a cue from this. Therefore naturally, the demand for such bikes is increasing.

However, there has been no word from the company as far as the final price tag is concerned. But the price tags for the bookings of ST7 and GT 650R models have been disclosed. The ST7, will be priced at Rs 6, 00,000, while the GT 650R, will be slightly cheaper at Rs 5, 50,000.

April 21 has been announced as the start of the bookings while the deliveries will start from May end. To handle the bookings, the company has made arrangements at 10 dealership locations to start off. Another 10 outlets will be finalized later.

Garware are expecting a sale of around 2000 units for both the models.
