It will not be too long before Suzuki introduces their GW250 model in India. It is just a matter of the upcoming few months. The production has already kick-started in China. There are bigger plans for Suzuki in the case of GW250. They are targeting China as their production hub for this model.
However, as far as the model of this bike for the Indian market is concerned, the company is planning to manufacture the bikes in India itself. It will be advantageous for the company as they will be able to manufacture the bikes at comparatively reduced costs.
Even Honda has done the same thing for the CBR250R bike. Though they have a manufacturing plant in Thailand, they have made arrangements to manufacture the model in India as well. Due to that, they were able to cut down on the production cost.
Suzuki desperately needs the GW250, as a performing bike to click. They have already faced some heat with their slingshot model. It has been a so-so result for them with the bike. But the Access 125 has come to their rescue. The bike has fared excellently well. Suzuki can bank of the success of the Access to get a foothold with their GW250 model.
The GW 250 comes with a 250cc liquid cooled twin cylinder engine. The bike is expected to create a top power of 26 Bhp at 8500 rpm and may generate a high torque of up to 24 Nm at 7000 rpm. The bike can most nearly be compared with a Honda CBR250R. There is close resemblance in sense of power. However, there torque of the GW250 is a tad lesser than that of the Honda bike.
If you are getting curious as when you can have a first look of the bike, then mostly it may materialize in the next year’s Auto Expo. Until then, keep your fingers crossed.
The entry of the GW250 will add more fuel to the competition in the Indian market. There are already bikes in this category like the Ninja 250, the Honda CBR250R or the Yamaha YZF R25.
