The vehicle is the first series hybrid scooter in India. Leap, as it will be known to the people, has been developed indigenously by Hero MotoCorp.

It is one of the major releases in the Auto Expo on just the second day of the week long show. The model is still in its baby days yet. It will take a whole lot of efforts and investment if it is to be launched commercially. Along with investment and efforts, it will also take time to get started with the project.

The hybrid scooter is equipped with an engine, which can be started with the lesser consumption of battery power.

Piaggio unveils Vespa scooter at the Auto Expo

auto expo 2012The Italian manufacturer Piaggio will be re-launching the iconic brand in India – the Vespa. Vespa happens to be the number two, two wheeler manufacturer in Europe. It has been 12 long years that the company is coming back to India. It then had a tie-up with LML that came to an end in the year 1999.

The vehicle, which will be known as the Vespa 125LX, looks rock solid. It is bundled with stylish retro looks. The company has its plant in Baramati, Pune. The Vespa 125LX will be manufactured at this plant. As the production picks up, the company has plans of putting the scooter on sale by the month of April in as many as 45 cities across India.

That is not all yet. The company also has plans of beginning with the Indian arm of the Vespa World Club this year itself.

The all new Dio launched by Honda at the Auto Expo

auto expo 2012Another auto major to make a new launch at the Auto Expo is the Japanese company Honda. The company has launched the Dio. Well, this might raise your eyebrows if you know that the Dio has already been launched by Honda. But the one launched today, is the refurnished version of the same scooter.

The Dio now comes with a brand new design – a design that will suit both the boys and the girls. The scooter is powered by an 110cc engine. It can produce a power of 9 Bhp. Interestingly, the Dio can produce more power than even the Suzuki Access, which is 125cc machine.

The new furnished Honda Dio can help you save fuel by as much as 15 per cent. That should save you enough money on your pocket. Honda has made the Dio the first auto scooter which will come with tubeless tyres. Honda’s Combi brake feature adorns the vehicle.

auto expo 2012The RTR 250 FX is the bike from the house of TVS that is in news at the Auto Expo. Along with the RTR 250 FX, the QUBE is another scooter that is on display. It is an electric vehicle. There is also a new technology that TVS is showcasing this year, which can be used for two wheelers.

The auto transmission is a technology that can save you 20 per cent of fuel. That can prove to be a huge plus point for those commuters who need to use their bikes on a daily basis.

The company has gone on to keep on display the entire range of the engines that are used in their vehicles at the Auto Expo. The engines have been put on display separately to make it convenient for the viewers to get a good idea through its classification.

TVS displays the Qube Electric Scooter at the Auto Expo

auto expo 2012Those who remember the last year’s Auto Expo may also recall the TVS Qube 2.0 that the company had showcased then. However, the bike seemed to have disappeared into thin air then. But it has not reappeared with a vengeance. The Qube is the completely redesigned version of last year’s vehicle.

It would be a mere guesswork calling this year’s Qube a 3.0 version. But the more important part is if the company is indeed planning to ever launch it in the market.

Keep your fingers crossed to get more updates from the Auto Expo 2012.
