A couple of days ago we had reported to you about the Indian auto maker – Bajaj Auto becoming the third largest motorcycle producer in the world and is the second largest in India. Riding on its success in the recent past, Bajaj has set some goals for itself in the days to come.
One of the goals is related to production. Bajaj Auto wants to add to their production capacities. The target they have set for themselves is giving a boost by at least 25 per cent. The company currently can manufacture at least 5 million units.
Of out these five million units, a bulk of the share is that of two wheelers with a production of 4.5 million units. The rest comes in the form of three wheelers. The total production will not be enough for the next fiscal year for the company. They need to step up the gas and get more units manufactured as they are facing a tough competition from both Hero MotoCorp and Honda.
Bajaj is eyeing to add another 1.3 million units in their production value. This will take the total production to 6.3 million units. The breakup of this is likely to be something like 5.7 million units of two wheelers and 0.6 million units in the form of three wheelers. The demand for Bajaj Auto is contently on the rise all over the world. No wonder, they have to take quick steps to see to it that they do not lag behind in the supply.
In this financial year, the company wants to sell at least five million units internationally. As far as the current financial year is concerned, the company has the resources as well as the market to manufacture and achieve the sales target they have set for themselves.
Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, who is the of MD Bajaj Auto Ltd. said that the company is aiming to push up their market share in the global market as well as keep up the profit levels. The company’s plants at Waluj, Pantnagar and Chakan will see a capacity expansion, which will allow the extended production.
The company is planning to export at least half of its total production. This is certainly a big challenge in front of them. But as Bajaj has presence is so many countries already, the dream should not be too difficult to realize. But at the same time, it should be admitted that it will not happen overnight and will consume a small amount of years into the future.
