We had earlier reported to you about Yamaha Ray, which the company has announced that it might be launched until the festive season of Diwali. Another auto major in the Indian industry, Piaggio has also come up with their new scooter – the Fly 125. Interestingly, the Piaggio scooter might also be launched during the same period.
The Fly 125 is however, not new to the market. The scooter is already being marketed for the international markets. It is a pretty light model and extremely easy to handle. The actual displacement of the scooter is 124cc that comes with a single cylinder 2-valve, air cooled engine. The Fly can generate a max power of 10.5 Bhp and can produce a top torque of 10 Nm.
The Fly 125 is braced with the automatic CVT transmission. That will make the model one of the best when it comes to fuel efficiency, especially for the Indian markets. There is a frame made of solid steel that gives the vehicle a lot of control. This makes it possible for the rider to have the required amount of control when riding.
For the front suspension, the Fly has telescopic hydraulic shock absorber. As far as the rear suspension is concerned, there are the twin hydraulic shock absorbers along with preload adjusters in place for comfortable riding. The tubeless tyres give it a hassle-free riding experience. The 12” wheels take a good grip of the road making it safe to ride always.
For security and safety, the Fly 125 has 200 mm disc brakes. However, there may not be disc brakes for the Indian version. Instead, there might be drum brakes for the front wheel and 140 mm drum brakes for the rear wheel. With a fuel tank capacity of 7.5 liters, it is not too bad for a scooter that is expected to be used primarily within the city limits.
Like most scooters of this type, there is enough of luggage storage room below the seat. Apart from that there is also the glove box to the front to carry any additional belongings. There are a lot of more features to look forward to in the vehicle. These should make the Fly 125 a prized possession.
