style="text-align: justify;">The Delhi Auto Expo has brought up some low cost bikes for. Potential customers who are interested in owning brand new power bikes, but cannot afford to go for costly ones, will be in for some fun. Let us have a look at these bikes.

Harley Davidson showcases low-cost custom models at Auto Expo

<img
class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-4156" title="harley-davidson-at-auto-expo_2" src="http://www.bikespace.in/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/harley-davidson-at-auto-expo_2.jpg" alt="auto expo"width="560" height="420" />The Delhi Auto Expo has seen a thrilling launch by Harley Davidson in the form of the FXDB Street Bob. Unbelievable it may sound, but the bike will now be available for only Rs. 9.95 lakhs (Ex-showroom price). Another bike, the FXDC Super Glide Custom will carry a price tag of Rs. 11.5 lakhs (Ex-showroom price).

With this launch, the company will be expanding the range of its Complete Knockdown Kit (CKD) models. The price tag for the FXDB Street Bob has made it a bike that is the most reasonably priced for the 1600cc cruiser. The culture of leisure riding is going up in India. And Harley Davidson is playing its part as a pioneer, the MD of the company, Mr. Anoop Prakash said.

The company has invested in the Indian market with a view to providing the bike enthusiasts with reasonably priced bikes. The company has said that they will be investing in strategies to make their products more accessible to the potential customers.

Ducati unveils the low-cost Monster 795 at the Auto Expo

<img
class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-4157" title="Ducati-Monster-795-at-auto-expo" src="http://www.bikespace.in/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Ducati-Monster-795-at-auto-expo.jpg" alt="auto expo"width="500" height="334" />Another low cost vehicle that was showcased during the Auto Expo was from the house of Ducati. At this time, two top ranked CEOs were present – Mr. Ashish Chordia, CEO, Ducati India and Mr. Mirko Bordiga CEO, Ducati Asia Pacific. This model bears the lowest price tag – Rs. 6, 99,000 (Ex-showroom price). The model will target customers especially from Asia.

The very aim of launching the Monster 795 is to expand the company’s base in the Asian auto market, where India is a prominent marketplace. It remains to be seen how the Monster gets a response in Asia. But the bike remains one of the best selling models in almost all the markets where Ducati operates.

Nevertheless, Monster 795 is a brand that has been in the waiting list of many Ducati fans. With the low price tag, it should help the customers own the brand of their choice, the India CEO of the company feels. That is why it is an important contributor to the success of Ducat in India.

Harley Davidson All Geared Up For The 2012 Delhi Auto Expo

Auto Events

Harley-Davidson

News Journal
<guid

Various auto companies are gearing up to promote their bikes on the show. The American legendary auto maker, Harley Davidson is one company that is looking up to the auto expo as well. The company has only been two years old in India.

Harley Davidson is recognized as a brand of luxury as well as performance all over the world. The Delhi Auto Expo will showcase just this – what the company stands for, luxury and performance. The Auto Expo is especially important for the company as it will not be only showcasing their bikes. They have something unique up their sleeve.

The US bike major will be emphasizing what psychologists have said before – no two human beings are exactly the same. In short, Harley Davidson will be displaying the customized models during the auto expo. Harley Davidson will call attention to the fact that no two HD bikes are exactly similar to each other. The company offers customized bikes to its customers. That is why each and every bike is different and unique from the other.

The auto company will also showcase as many as 5000 different parts as well as accessories. They can be chosen by the customers to customize their Harley Davidson bikes on their own. The company is giving an opportunity for the customers, they feel. What’s more, Harley Davidson has made special arrangements to bring about a fashion show during the auto expo that will be held from January 7 to January 11, 2012. The show has been organized at the Pragati Maidan.

At the fashion show, the company will be displaying the merchandise as well as the Harley Davidson Motor Clothes. However, the fashion show comes with a cause. The proceeds from the show will be donated for the sake of breast cancer research all over the world. The company expects the HD fans to support the cause.

Harley Davidson Closes Their Plant In Adelaide

Harley-Davidson

News Journal
<guid

class="alignleft" title="harley-davidson" src="http://www.bikespace.in/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/harley-davidson.jpg" alt="Harley Davidson"width="277" height="182" />The renowned American auto maker Harley Davidson suddenly dropped a bombshell on the workers at their Adelaide plant in Australia. They have decided to close down their wheel manufacturing plant in the city. The surprising thing was that they took this decision without giving any prior notice to either the Australian government or to the Australian Workers Union.

The more ‘inhumane’ thing according to the workers was the timing of the shut down. Christmas is round the corner and the decision has come directly from the company’s headquarters in the United States. It will indeed be a Christmas that the Australian workers will want to forget as early as possible.

Due to the closure of the plant 212 workers have lost their jobs in all. The reason for the closure has not been kept a secret. The company, in a statement, has said in a straightforward manner that they want to shift their base. The company’s plant will now be relocated to China. An official decision has already been made about the same.

The decision has been termed as ‘disgraceful’ by the State Secretary of the Australian Workers Union, Mr. Wayne Hanson. The two important men in the picture, Mr Tom Koutsantonis, Industry Minister, South Australia, spoke with the Managing Director of Harley Davidson, Mr Don Gorgon. The minister gave an assurance that the government was ready to forward any help the company needed.

However, the reason for the plant to be shifted to China was that of the high Aussie dollar. The company clearly wanted to move to a place where the currency would be cheaper and affordable to them. There was nothing more than that as it was solely this issue.

It is certain that the employees of the company in Adelaide will have a sorry Christmas this year unless anything miraculous happens.

More official details on this issue are currently awaited.

Great Demand For The Harley Davidson Bikes In Southern India

Harley-Davidson

News Journal
<guid

One of them is the demand for bikes. As a matter of fact, south India is experiencing a great demand for the Harley Davidson bikes. It is as if the Harley Davidson bikes are the life of the bike enthusiasts. All the young bikers are excitedly waiting for the delivery of the bikes that they have booked.

Places like Brahmawar, Udupi and Kundapur in the city of Mangalore are a place abuzz. The dealer based in the twin city of Bangalore is having busy days of late. Actually, in February, there will be a new launch from the Harley Davidson house. The bike, Harley Sportster Iron 883 is already making the news.

The bookings for the Harley Sportster Iron 883 are underway currently. Interestingly, one Ganesh Nayak, who did never intend buying the vehicle, got the honor of riding the exciting bike. No wonder, he changed his mind and wished to buy the Sportster Iron 883. Now, the wait for Ganesh Nayak is three months until he gets the bike in February. He has been assured that he would get his bike as and when the deliveries start.

The bikes will be imported in India as Complete Knock Down – CKD units. The bikes are then taken to the company’s plant in Haryana. After that only they are ready to be distributed at other parts of the country and make their entry in the Indian market.

The company has a couple of showroom in the south India. One of them is Bangalore while the other one is Hyderabad. There are already around half a dozen bookings in Bangalore alone. As time passes, the number is likely to shoot up. Ganesh Nayak who hails from Mangalore, is the first person from the city to book the new machine. More expected!

Limited Edition Motorcycles From Harley Davidson

Harley-Davidson

News Journal
<guid

This is the first time in the history of Harley Davidson that they will be doing such an exercise keeping in view only a single territory. The special edition bikes will be launched only for the Republic of China.

These bikes will be manufactured to mark China’s centennial. The information about these developments was also given by Mr Tung Teh-Wang, who is the Board Member, Swire Pacific Ltd. Harley Davidson does business in China through their agent Swire Pacific Ltd.

There is another reason for the launch of the special edition of the bike, which is the Silk Road expedition. It is a symbol of the adventure, the challenges and the pursuit of freedom the fans of the company have always expected of them.

Each of the 100 units that will be manufactured will carry ‘Harley’ and ‘Peace’ in an embossed form. Apart from that, the bike has uniqueness in it. They all have been designed keeping in mind the cultural fusion of the East and the West. The bikes will reflect the very own American style. For the Chinese representation, there will be the conventional delicacy to be seen in the bike.

That is not all yet. Each of the 100 motorcycles will carry a unique serial number along with it. Though all the bikes are manufactured with the same purpose, they will have varying price tags. The prices of these special edition motorcycles range from $33,300 to $55,000.

The bikes are indeed getting popular in that part of the world. The company expects to see sales of around 1000 units in the next 4 to 5 years. As a matter of fact, the bike has been a craze more in Taiwan than actually in China.

Harley Davidson India Launches Fat Boy Edition For India

Harley-Davidson

News Journal

The crop of new launches is not ready to die down. Various auto makers are launching newer bikes to keep potential customers attracted to them. The latest foreign company to launch a new bike for the Indian market is Harley Davidson. The Indian arm of Harley Davidson has come up with a new launch especially for the Indian market.

<img
class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3428" title="harley-davidson-fat-boy" src="http://www.bikespace.in/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/harley-davidson-fat-boy.jpg" alt="fat boy"width="530" height="325" />The bike, that will be introduced as a completely built unit carries a price tag of Rs. 19.7 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). Trying to cash in on the new launch, the bike will be launched at all the outlets of Harley Davidson. That will give a boost to the sales of the bike. The Fat Boy will be one of the 15 different models Harley Davidson has in India.

Those who know the old Fat Boy model will know the difference between the new launch and the older model. The new model has some physical upgrades. The Fat Boy is really a fat one when it comes to the design. The obtruding design gives the feeling that the bike is indeed a ‘fat’ one.

For those who do not know the difference, here are some points that will give you some idea. There is a change in the color – the new Fat Boy comes in all black color. This gives a more impressive look – probably the one, its predecessor could not offer. The seat has been newly designed for the new edition.

There is a slight difference in the design of the handlebar. There is the H-D (Harley Davidson) emblem on the fuel tank. The bike is designed with a twin engine displacement of 1584cc. The Fat Boy has a capacity to produce a high torque of 125 Nm at 3500 rpm.

Harley Davidson India has a lot of hopes pinned on the bike. Time is the only answer that will narrate the success story of the Fat Boy.

Harley Davidson Contemplating Bikes With Liquid Cooled Engines

Harley-Davidson

News Journal
<guid

They are contemplating on introducing bikes with liquid cooled engines instead of the air cooled engines currently being used by them. This will serve a good purpose for them.

The change in the engine will bring down the cost of the vehicles considerably. This will also help them to remain in the competition more strongly. They have not yet decided the exact models on which they will work or when they will start the production of liquid cooled engines. However, it is only a matter of time, before Harley Davidson get to business.

But by no means is this an easy task. It will involve a lot of technicalities like maintaining the original nature of a specific model intact, making as little changes as possible and not going for out-of-the-way modifications. The company has also released some blueprints of the new liquid cooled engines as well.

As a matter of fact, Harley Davidson has found out that, the Japanese bikes need lesser time and money to look after. Those who buy these bikes, have only to do with the joy of riding these bikes. Spending time taking care of the bike is really not their cup of tea. This is another reason why Harley Davidson is considering the liquid cooled engines.

The customers going for the Japanese bikes are in the mid 30s. Therefore, buyers in this age group are not committed to getting into the hassles of looking after their luxurious and pricey bikes. The introduction of the liquid cooled bikes will help them with their image of dishing out bikes for the young brigade. The low prices of the bike will be an added advantage.

Harley-Davidson To Introduce India-Specific Bikes Soon

Harley-Davidson

News Journal

Harley-Davidson’s model Forty Eight to be recreated for the running year and especially for the Indian market. But the company does not stop here considering the competition in the Indian market.

If things fall in place, the US based company will launch in India, bike that will be specifically targeted for the Indian customers. The company’s first aim is to make the bikes available in India, which can be in the people’s reach, meaning which they can afford.

However, this idea is difficult to implement. But the Harley-Davidson is taking things seriously. They are in touch with the Indian suppliers and designers, which will make them possible to get an idea of the low cost of the vehicle. This information was given by the top six people who are directly connected with this new idea. However, none gave out any details.

The company has already set up a CKD (completely knocked down) unit which will look into the work of assembling those models, which will be for sale in India. The parts required for the bikes will be manufactured locally – in India. However, they will be open for exporting to the Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries.

Harley-Davidson has recently introduced as many as three models which are based on the CKD. Before going any further, the company is going to stick to the same momentum they have gained. This is not the first time that Harley-Davidson is implementing this strategy. They had once done the same for the Chinese market too.

The new models, which will be based on the CKD, will have engine capacities with displacements between 500cc and 750cc. These models may hit the market at anytime between either June or July this year to January or February in the next year. The company plans to set the price of these vehicles to around Rs. 4 lakhs.

If you compare the other Harley-Davidson models which are currently in the market, you will notice that those bikes cost in the region of Rs. 5 lakhs. That is why the price tag of Rs. 4 lakhs will certainly make the potential customers think of giving the bike a try.

An Early Eye On Harley Davidson Forty Eight

Harley-Davidson

The Indian arm of the US auto maker, the Harley-Davidson India, unveiled their bike – the Forty Eight. It has been made available for the Indian customers at a competitive price of Rs. 8.5 lakhs. This bike is certainly an exciting feature amongst the bike enthusiasts. A sheer look at the bike will give you a macho feeling.

The obtruding fuel tank and a single sitting position give the bike more than good looks. The bike looks quite heavy when seen from the side as it exposes all the engine parts to a clear view. The bike has a lot to offer, especially in the 1200 cc engine that it carries. It gives you the feeling of the HD for sure.

The bike comes with a V Twin, double cylinder, four stroke air cooled engine and carries a compression ratio of 9.7:1. The bike is equipped with an electric start engine. Apart from that, the bike is equipped with a manual type transmission and comes with a five speed gearbox.

The heavy bike has been equipped with heavy duty tyres that will bear the weight of the bike as well as the rider comfortably. The front tyre for the bike is the Dunlop MT90 B16 72H, while for the rear tyre there is, 150/80 R16 71H.

For the safety reasons, the bike incorporates hydraulic disc brakes both for the front and the rear wheels. Well, there is no need to mention it separately, what a disk brake can do for a bike. The Forty Eight has disk brakes for both the wheels and therefore, it is the best safety gear that the bike is designed with.

There is very little doubt in the performance of the heavy machine built by Harley-Davidson. The single-seater bike is here to take you by storm.

Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight Reborn In India

Harley-Davidson

News Journal
<guid

But that is what Harley-Davidson India has exactly done. They have launched an all new bike for the 2011 year. The bike will be known as ‘Forty Eight’. Another thing worth mentioning is its price tag. The bike has been made available only for Rs. 8.5 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

However, those who follow the auto industry will know that the Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight is not new to the industry. The bike was actually launched around 54 years ago – in 1957. The bike had become extremely popular and was in a high demand those days.

The bike will certainly add to the repertoire of the company which is already huge and wide. Moreover, the price of the Forty Eight is also a competitive one. However, just mentioning the price or saying that it is competitive is not going to suffice until you know the specification of the bike or at least that of the engine. Only this can give you any idea of the bike.

The bike comes with a 1200cc V-Twin engine. The utmost power and the torque generated by the bike almost touch to the ceiling. You can feel the Harley-Davidson bike just as you start it and drive it.

As said earlier that the Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight was first launched in 1957. However, as expected, today’s technology can be seen in the bike which did not exist in those days. Today there are electronic sequential fuel injection and modern suspension components in place for the bike.

The Sportster is mostly supposed to serve a single person – a single-seater bike. However, there is a facility for the pillion rider in place as well. it even comes with a backrest.

The bookings for the bike will kick off from this month itself. You can book your Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight at any of the official dealership of Harley-Davidson in India.
