Yesterday we had reported to you about the Indian auto company LML making a comeback with their scooter segment in Delhi and NCR regions. Now, there is another news piece worth sharing about LML again. The company is aggressive in their marketing and production plans and has much in store for them.

Whatever one may think about the scooters doing well in a certain part of a country, the existence of motorcycles can never be ignored or underestimated. Keeping that in mind, LML is also going to launch two motorcycles for the Indian market this year. The bikes will be in the 100cc and 125cc category.

But first, let us come to Star 200 4T. As the name of the model suggests, the vehicle will come in a 200cc engine. The scooter can generate power up to 11.5 Bhp and a maximum torque of 14.5 Nm. Though the scooter has a strong engine, it has the ability to reach the 50 kmpl mark even in city areas. Therefore, the scooter should fare well, where scooters are still a favorite.

Now, one of the most important things is the pricing of the bike. There is one prime reason for the price of the Star 4T to be a bit lesser. The reason is the company is making a comeback of sorts. This will force them to keep the prices down. Secondly, what they are promoting is the scooter – a vehicle not that popular today. This will make the prices of the vehicle within reach, considering the fact that they are staring at a 200cc vehicle.

For those who do not know about LML, here is a bit of information. The company might have failed at the local market; however, the scooters are a flavor in the European market. LML exports scooters to these places. That has kept the company alive. Had it not been for that support, it would have been extremely difficult for the auto maker to think about re-launching scooters in India.

In the already congested market where auto companies are already facing a cut-throat competition, LML is in the race now. They have launched the Select 150cc model in New Delhi and the NRC region. It has been a long time since there are any vehicles in the market from the LML brand.

Let us get a little nostalgic. Years ago, there was the LML Vespa brand in India. It was a relatively fine two-wheeler from the scooter segment which had made its presence felt on the Indian roads. Vespa is an Italian manufacturing brand. LML – Lohiya Machinery Limited and Vespa were partners when they launched the LML Vespa.

However, they could not hold on to the growing competition. There was Bajaj and Hero Honda who gave a tough fight to the LML brand. To add agony to this, the brand was priced relatively dear. This made the LML Vespa’s exist faster from the Indian roads.

In between, LML tried their luck with different projects and partners. Their next joint venture was with the Korean manufacturer Daelim. With Daelim they launched a 150cc bike called Energy and Adreno in the Indian market. When they had no success there, they took chances with Freedom – an 110cc bike. However, as luck would have it, they had no success on both the occasions.

But, they cannot be written off completely. They are back and with a launch as well. A lot is expected from the Select 150cc model. Let it not be surprising if the company is coming with a scooter to make a comeback instead of bikes – which are more popular today.

The reason to opt for a scooter is that in the Delhi and the NRC region, scooters still rule the roost. No wonder, the company is targeting only these two regions for their comeback. That is why launching a scooter was the best possible option before them.

When it comes to Honda and Mahindra, there has to be only quality. There has been no compromise on the quality of the vehicles dished out by both Honda and Mahindra. Mahindra entered the two-wheeler segment with a bang and there too their quality spoke volumes for the company.
